Frequently asked questions

Who can get a working holiday visa for Spain?

Australian citizens aged 18 to 30 with at least two years of tertiary study and functional Spanish. There are 3,400 places each year.

When should I apply?

No earlier than 3 months before you plan to arrive in Spain. Your AFP police check must be less than 3 months old, so plan your timing carefully.

What counts as functional Spanish?

The consulate decides, often at your appointment. A course certificate or DELE exam result helps.

I'm 30 — am I too late?

You must be no older than 30 when you apply. If your birthday is close, start planning now.

Can I stay longer than a year?

The visa itself lasts 12 months. To stay on, you'd need to switch to another permit, such as the Digital Nomad Visa or a work permit.
